We slept in until around nine and then headed to the pool for some relaxing and ready, it was warm and a great way to start the day. We needed to do some laundry and get some lunch so we headed into Greve. We ran to the market and the Laundromat and then headed to La Cantina for pizza. We had pizza with mozzarella, mushrooms, onions, and ham and the other had mozzarella spicy sausage, ham, and capers. Both were really good and the capers were amazing and about the size of a dime!
We headed back to the hotel for some more pool and reading time. Mike and Mark ran to get flowers around 4 and I went to begin getting ready! When we got back to the hotel it was cloudy and looked like it may rain, thankfully it cleared out quickly and ended up being a beautiful night.
Mike and I got ready and then headed out for pictures around 6 with our friend Cameron designated as the photographer. We did lots of posed shots and waited for the guests to come from their rooms. The ceremony started around 6:45 and was short and very meaningful to us. Mark did a fantastic job and a lot of us were very choked up. I had 4 impromptu flower girls, 3 of whom carried flowers from the property and Sydney carried rose petals we had ordered at the florist the day before. After the ceremony we had some prosecco and canapés on the main area in front of the Mona Lisa suite and took a few more photos and chatted with friends and other guests. There were around 25 people at the ceremony and dinner.
The dinner was planned for around 8ish and we headed down to the second pool and kitchen area on the property. We had selected a menu earlier in the week and were very pleased with the choices, we began with a pepper and orange salad, an eggplant gratin, then had a creamy risotto with pears and gorgonzola cheese, a tagliatele with mushrooms, and had the two main courses of duck and pork and finally finishing the evening with millfoile, which is a layer cake with cream. For wine we had a Rose, then on to the Mona Lisa Reserve and finished with Vin Santo. During the dinner, Sara (who is a Presbyterian minister) recited a beautiful poem about a relationship and a vineyard. The young girls also sang us a song, it was very cute. Thanks to Jim, we had a few ipods and a speaker with great 80’s music (for Mike and Mark) and were able to dance to our song.
Since there were other guests staying near the pool we headed back up to the area in front of the Mona Lisa suite and had more Vin Santo and some Limoncello. We snuck out around 12:30 and let the others continue the fun! I had an amazing time and I know Mike did too, we were surrounded by old friends and a few new ones but it was the PERFECT wedding. No stress, no drama! We had the perfect location and the perfect group of people to celebrate with. I can guarantee that no one has ever had the same wedding that we have, I laid out by the pool 3 hours before and celebrated with a group of 5 little girls, 4 other married couples, a few single straight friends and 6 of the most amazing gay men I have ever met. Who could ask for anything else.
