I meet Mike at the Mall of America to enjoy a happy hour at Crave and take a few things back. One of the dresses I had purchased at the Limited a few weeks ended up having a huge hole in it, I went to put it on one morning and you could see a nice big chunk of skin smile_omg

We each ordered a glass of the house red and opted for 3 of their happy hour snacks, a mini pizza, a spicy salmon roll and chicken in a spicy sauce. They were ok, but nothing overly special, our service was good and the prices were really good for a happy hour so I think Crave will do well.

Mike is currently unstaffed and there is a good potential that he could be on a project in town (for the first time in his 12+ year career and our almost 6 year relationship) but there is also a chance he could get staffed internationally and we could end up somewhere for a few years. We had a good conversation about what we want to do and where we want to be, I think we would be really like an international project. It would be a great experience and I could teach English or find some sort of job while he did his project, on the other side having him in town would be amazing. We have never had a “normal” relationship where we have both been home all week and have had the chance to come home to each other for more than a night or two in a row. With me doing a big volunteer commitment and my MBA while he was out of town the last few years. We have had a crazy few years- add in all of our travel, other life events and I am amazed we have made it as far as we have.

Now that my big stuff is done it makes Mike being out of town even harder, so we are in a wait and see pattern right now. And for this type A, planner it is making me really really crazy! So we wait, and time will tell where we will be and what we will be doing.

9 Hours Flying By…

July 30, 2009

It was another busy day with not a ton of time for food, I made a Green Monster before heading to work this morning with a banana, almond milk, Amazing Grass Superfood, 2 big handfuls of Spinach and a few ice cubes. I was in a hurry so I drank it in the car on the way to work while sitting in a bit of traffic. I had a meeting right away so I was in a big rush to get in and get a few things organized.

I had a Coconut Cream Pie Larabar (which I love), some peppers, cucumbers and string cheese for a snack.

Lunch was a leftover Portobello burger and the leftover tomato and bean salad. Quite tasty :)

Yesterday turned out to be a pretty good day! I had a really good lunch with my mentor, she had some really good things to say about my frustrating work situation. My big takeaway from the lunch was that I control the things around me, and I can make the best of the situation and at the end of the day if I know that I did my best I can be proud of that. No one can discount what I am proud of. If I know I did great work and they don’t have the same perspective of that, it is their loss. I have a lot to offer to any working environment.

Sometimes you just get stuck in a situation that isn’t ideal, that is what is happening right now. Work is less than rewarding, I feel very unsure about my future and where we want to live and what we want to be doing. I just need to make sure I am trying my hardest to take a positive spin on the situation and let things go at the end of the day.

I was glad I had a happy hour to head to after work, it was nice to just chat with 11 women who all have unique experiences and a lot to say. I always leave the happy hours for this group feeling really positive. At happy hour I had 2 glasses of their house Shiraz, which was drinkable but not memorable and a tiny happy hour pizza.

On the way home I stopped at Whole Foods to stock up on Greek yogurt, popchips and a few other things. It was after 9 by the time I got home and I headed straight to bed, I was exhausted.
