I woke up early this morning feeling less than stellar, had the hot/cold thing going on, and other fun flu symptoms. No good! So I have spent the day resting, going between being a million degrees to not being able to get warm. Whenever I feel flu-ish I abide by the BRAT diet, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast and tea. I attempting a dinner of Yogi Ginger Tea (which is supposed to help with nausea) and some Trader Joe’s Sprouted Grain toast with a bit of butter.
Hopefully I start feeling better by as the evening wears on, I will keep nursing tea and may take a Tylenol PM to ensure I sleep. Bed at 7, what a wild night
Do you have any tips for getting better quickly from the flu?
Food for the day, be back with a full post tonight!

Once you reach your mid to late 20’s a few things start to happen-
1) Most of your friends have moved away
2) Most of your friends have gotten married
3) Most of your friends have had kids
You feel your social circle dwindling and you wonder what you can do about it if you meet some of those things, all of those or none. Meetup, it is the best thing I have found. Let me start by saying Meetup isn’t paying me or giving me anything to write this. I actually pay them! I found that as a combination of items 1 through 3 listed above were happening I didn’t have as many people to hang out with. Now this doesn’t mean that we aren’t’ still friends but it does mean we have a bit less in common. I wanted to meet some fun people that I could hang out with and a few fun couples that Mike and I could do dinner with as well. While listening to the radio one day I heard about Meetup, here we are a year later and I run a couples group, belong to a wine group, a book club, and a few women’s groups. In the last year I have meet some of the people who I know hang out with on a regular basis. Tonight I had a couples happy hour, and there were 4 couples and me (since Mike was traveling). 3 of the 4 were new to the group and they were all so nice! I am so glad I found Meetup.
We went to Patrick McGovern’s in St. Paul, it is a traditional Irish Pub. I had a Summit Octoberfest and the traditional fish and chips. Their fish and chips was really good, they use cod and a Guinness Batter but its not too heavy or greasy. I had a beer and about half the chips and felt satisfied after. I would definitely head to Patrick McGovern’s again for a group function and happy hour.

The last day or so we have had 40+ mph wind, all last night I could hear the trees and wind. It was crazy loud! It is definitely fall- the high today is only 55. Almost sweater and boot weather
I put some overnight oats together last night with a 1/2 cup of oats, 1/3 cup of almond milk, a container of Peach Fage and some Pumpkin Seed Granola. I am really looking forward to this!

Lunch is leftover chili that looks much thicker than before, if that is even possible. A good filling meal on a cool fall day.

Snacks are the few gingersnaps from the pumpkin dessert I made last night, carrots, celery with hummus and a few string cheese.
I have a happy hour tonight for the couples group, it will be a small tonight but a great group! Patrick McGovern’s here we come
