A Big Dinner on a Monday Night

September 7, 2009

Since Mike is usually gone on Monday nights we don’t usually have a chance to cook dinner together on Monday nights, but, since it is a holiday we got a whole extra evening together! We made an Indian dinner with a Masala sauce we picked up at Trader Joe’s and it had only “real food” ingredients.

But…. our quest to find a good Indian dish we can make at home continues. The sauce was good but did not thicken up enough to be a real sauce and we burnt the rice. Boo! I ate the chicken pieces out and two delicious cobs of corn. The saving grace of dinner. I am still hungry and debating what might sound good.

An Italian Sunday Night Dinner

September 7, 2009

We meet our friends Stacey and Josh for dinner at Mama Marias in Hudson, its about half way between our house and where they live in Eau Claire. Mama Maria’s was really busy for a Sunday night at 8 and their service showed the understaffing.

We ordered an Italian Red, stuffed mushrooms and artichokes to share as an appetizer. Our food order was placed at 8:30 and it was almost 9:30 by the time we got the food! Thankfully they have good food and we had been there before so we were willing to accept that level of service.

I ordered the trio with a sampling of the tortellini, ravioli and a cannelloni. Very good tasting! My entree came with a choice of soup or salad and I opted for the tomato dill soup, it had a good flavor. We split the trip and an appetizer sized pizza. A pretty good dinner, too bad the service was so slow.
