Barrio, Books and Black Tea

September 10, 2009

Lunch today was a filling sandwich of nitrate free turkey and cheese on sunflower seed and oat bread that I found at Costco, a string cheese and a mini cheddar and a big bag of peppers. I have been majorly craving cheese lately! IMG_1619

For an afternoon pick me up I had a Black Tea with Pumpkin Flavoring, very fall like and offered the hint of sweetness I was looking for.

Mike was able to get an earlier flight so I meet him for happy hour before heading to book club. We stopped at Barrio in St. Paul for some amazing guacamole. This is the 2nd time we have been to this location and it was a little more low key this time. It was a perfect day outside so we were able to sit outside and people watch.

We ordered guacamole, a jicama and citrus salad and Mike had a mini taco. Their guacamole is so good, it is fresh made for each order and their chips are made in house. The Mama Cita was on special which is a punch made with tequila, hibiscus and cava. Strong but tasty, you definitely only need one drink.

At book club I had a Mighty Leaf Vanilla Black Tea and enjoyed the good conversation and relaxing. Almost all of us came to the conclusion that it wasn’t our favorite book but we didn’t dislike it. Next months book is Sarah’s Key, which I will get started on in the car this weekend.
