Where did Sunday Go?

September 27, 2009

Wow, this day flew! All of a sudden it is 7 and we are just sitting down to eat. We watched a few shows, I found a few recipes I wanted to make for dinner and to have leftovers for the week and I ran to Target to get all the supplies.

I paged through Ellie Krieger’s cookbook and thought the Turkey Meatloaf and Confetti Chili looked liked winners! We had a lot of the ingredients on hand but needed a few things. The chili called for a Chipotle in Adobe, which Target by us does not carry, so I had to run to a 2nd grocery store for one item. Argh, I hate doing that! The chili called for beef and Target is now carrying organic and grass fed beef, I was excited! The turkey came from The Ferndale Market trip a few weeks ago. Such great flavor from the meat! This chili is awesome, and all the extra veggies are a nice bonus.

I like my chili nice and thick and this one does the trick, a definite winner! If you have her cookbook give it a try. Our topping were a bit of shredded cheddar and a few pita chip crumbs.

The meatloaf was good too, nice and moist and had a good tomato flavor. It will be great for dinners this week!

A Little Reminder

September 27, 2009

Most of Mike’s college friends bring their kids to the tailgate and they always want me to play with them. Yesterday provided me a little reminder that I am not 8, more like 28 and feeling 68 today. I am very very sore and a pretty bruised from playing at the park and trying to do some play ground gymnastics.

Check out this lovely bruise:

Yup, it really hurts.

Breakfast was in the car on the way home and we had honeycrisp apples, some dried pineapple from Trader Joes.

There was a McDonald’s stop to get Egg McMuffins but I was starving and forgot to take a picture ;) We got on the road at 8 today and its nice to be home and unpacked by 12:30. The plan is to relax, catch up on some dvr shows and probably nap. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
