Foodbuzz knows how to put on a party! The welcome reception was held on the 8th floor of the Hotel Vitale and it had quite the view-

There were a few passed appetizers, and signature cocktails and it was a PACKED spaced. We felt like sardine but it was so great to meet fun people from all over the country with blogs on all different types of food topics.

After the welcome reception we headed to the Ferry Building for a Street Food Fair. That was fantastic! Tacos, to a Crispy Skin Sandwich, green tea, beer, pizza and the cutest cupcakes I have ever seen. The Crispy Skin Sandwich is apparently a big hit during the farmers market and it is pork with a herb filling, onions, organic herbs and crispy pork skin. This sandwich has moved to number one on the list.

I also want to design luggage for WOMEN who travel, most suitcases are clearly designed for men. I really don’t need a tie compartment! I want a suitcase that I can hang a few things in, have space for at least 2 pair of shoes, have a compartment for a hairdryer and brush all while being able to carry it on and heist that bad boy over my head. I tend to strictly abide by the carry on only rule so a well designed carry on bag is a must. I have looked at a lot of suitcases and tried to find the ultimate carry on that maximizes organization while allowing me to fit everything in. It was a difficult task!
I ended up getting a Tumi Suitcase that has a hanging section and a very small section on the bottom. While this isn’t the perfect bag it does work pretty well, I can get 4-5 hangers in the hanging section and still have a room for a shirt or two on the side and a blow dryer. The lower section holds a 2nd pair of dress/casual shoes, my shoes for working out, 1-2 workout outfits (if they are a tank and shorts) and pajamas. The front of the suitcase holds my makeup bag, brush and toiletries bag that is a sturdy plastic bag with a zipper that I never un-pack. I use refillable bottles of shampoo, lotion, etc and always have a full kit packed so all I have to do is grab it and toss in the front pocket.
So if any luggage manufacturers are reading, please contact me for some market research and feedback of your products. The professional traveling women is a HUGE market opportunity.
Having a blast so far! My cousin picked me up at the airport and it was so great to catch up. I haven’t seen him in years! I got checked into the hotel and meet my roomate Amie, who is awesome. We are so much alike. I am going to stop gushing like a college girl
We went and got registered and got our amazing swag bags, yeah for fun stuff for the kitchen! We were doing the swap out of stuff she wanted and stuff I wanted. That is what roommates are for.
We are just beautifying ourselves are headed for the welcome reception. Fun!
The Foodbuzz Festival is finally here and I could not be any more excited! When the email came out announcing this I jumped on the pre-registration list immediately. The thought of having conversation about food with 250 people is my idea of a great time. I flew from Minneapolis to San Francisco on a 11:40 am flight, I was pretty surprised at how full it was. Mid-day on Friday has typically been a slower time to be at the airport. Checking in was a bit more complicated than it usually is because of the Northwest/Delta merger. Delta is in the process of moving over all the Northwest World Perks Accounts and when I booked this ticket it was under my Northwest number. When checking in I tried my Delta number first and it couldn’t find me and then I went back to my Northwest number. Remembering one number is hard enough now I need to remember two, I am going to have to keep repeating my new Delta number to myself. Thankfully Delta was really pretty good at getting status and miles transferred over so my Silver Status and 108,000 miles are safe. Since it was such a full flight I did not get upgraded, sigh. Flying in coach is a lot harder when you usually get upgraded. I did have a great seat and had no problems getting on the plane early and stowing my luggage.
I packed a small lunch to eat on the plane since I wasn’t being upgraded, a big honeycrisp apple, 2 pieces of string cheese, an orange pepper and my water bottle that I filled at the bubbler (yes, I am from Wisconsin and still say bubbler). When the flight attendant was walking by with the cart I realized that they now have Coke products instead of Pepsi. Score! (And my new camera ate that picture, so sorry!)
The gentleman sitting next to me was also a frequent traveler so we had a nice conversation about the perks of frequent flying and the merger. I love hearing what others experience about travel. My dream job would be travel around the world eating and drinking while trying out every loyalty/frequent use program out there. I don’t think anyone is going to offer me that job anytime soon
