I updated my status on Twitter this afternoon that I was craving crusty bread with olive oil and a big glass of red wine. I had a lot of people agreed with my idea! On my drive home I stopped at Kowalski’s Market which is kind of a cross between Whole Foods and a traditional grocery store for a baguette to satisfy the crust bready craving and then I remembered that the have a leftover cheese bin. If your grocery store has a cheese counter they may have a small bin with ends of cheese the cut within the past few days. This is a great way to try new cheese in a small amount, they usually range from $.50 cents to a few dollars. Tonight I grabbed a Pyrenees Cortand Cheese which is made from mountain milk and has a medium to strong flavor and has a medium firmness. It was delicious, not overly pungent and nice and creamy. I got about 3 fingers worth of cheese for $1. The second cheese was a Stilton, and a very typical one. Bold, strong and creamy and it was only a $1. I LOVE CHEESE!
To celebrate the fact that Merlot is back, as I learned in my tasting at Foodbuzz on Saturday I opened a bottle of Deloach Merlot and enjoyed a nice glass. I put together an appetizer plate of a few pieces of each cheese, some of the french baguette, a small spoonful of Italian Honey, 2 pieces of sopresseta, and a small dish of Chili Infused Olive Oil with a bit of salt and Sicilian Dipping Spices. The appetizer plate was so delicious! I would love to eat like this all the time, if only I could live in Italy.
Since I can not live on cheese and bread alone I had a bowl of Amy’s Tomato Soup and some sweet potato fries with some curry powder, cinnamon and a drizzle of Olive oil. These were pretty darn tasty!

I am relaxing on the couch with Clifford the rest of the evening with my glass of wine and a few episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice.
What is your favorite way to relax?
