Last night we had tickets to see The Bodeans playing at The Guthrie in Minneapolis. The show started at 8 so we had some time to grab dinner before, we needed a place that we could do dinner in about an hour and a half so I suggested Bar La Grassa which is run by a James Beard Award recipient ad has been open about 4-5 months. We had been to Isaac Becker’s other restaurant- 112 Eatery. We didn’t have a reservation but were able to get a table for two, the place was packed! Not an open table table to be found. I started with an Apple and Prosciutto Salad with a gorgonzola parmesan dressing, it was tart, salty and a tiny bit sweet with a good punch of flavor from the gorgonzola.
Mike had a marinated pork shoulder bruschetta, I had a small bite but I don’t like the taste of cold meat.

For our mains I ordered the half portion of orecchiette with braised rabbit, this was delicious! And I love how the orecchiette really does look like little ears. They are so cute! The option of ordering a half option is perfect for me, I can never eat a whole plate of any (except maybe cheese) so this fills me up without making me feel overfull

Mike ordered the pappardelle with veal ragu, he ordered the full plate but only ended up eating about half. The fresh cut noodles were quite large and filling.

We headed over to The Guthrie to see The Bodeans and really enjoyed the show. To give it a more intimate feel it was in a small stage that seated about 700. When we have seen them in the past it has been in a club or bar so this was a much more “proper’ way see them but it hard not to dance
Here are a few of my favorite Bodeans songs-
Idaho
Still The Night
and the most requested song ever on Cites 97 in Minneapolis-
Goodthings, now just try not to dance to this song!
