Salut Bar American in Edina

January 6, 2010

Last night I met a few ladies from book club for dinner at Salut Bar American in the 50th and France area of Edina. Normally this area is crazy busy but since it was a whopping 1 degree it was DEAD. No one walking the streets or going into the boutiques. Just the crazy people in the restaurant we thought it was good to park 5 blocks away and freeze ;)

I have been to Salut 3 or 4 other times and have always had the same impression, good but overpriced. Last nights dinner gave me the same feeling, I opted for the Tuesday Special: Beef  Bourguignone (said in my best Julia Child voice). I love beef bourguignone and Salut’s was good, not great and it was $21.95 which seems pricey for beef stew. Instead of the mashed potatoes I had their amazing fries. And they really are some of the best fries I have ever had!

I was home and soundly asleep by 10:30 :)

i don’t think I’d even recognize the 50th and France area anymore…it’s been years!
Stay warm!
