Football, Chili and Houses

January 17, 2010

Wow did today go fast! I had a brunch this morning, got an hour and a half workout in, made Chili, watched the Vikings beat up on the Dallas Cowboys and went and looked at two houses. smile_omg

We had Mike’s dad over for his birthday and to watch the Vikings game. After having a craving for chili for the past few weeks I knew I needed to make Chili for a Crowd. We only made one modification- we subbed out ground turkey that we had gotten at the Ferndale Market instead of beef. This makes A LOT of chili! I will be eating this a few times this week and we even gave some to Jim to enjoy during the week.

While the chili was cooking we snacked on some Trader Joe’s Flax and Soy Tortilla Chips and some Pace salsa that I received as part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program.

This hit the spot for my chili craving and it was seriously delicious!

Once the final seconds of the game had finally ticked away and Mike knew without a doubt that the Vikings had been declared victorious we headed to a few open houses. Since we are just staring our search we are trying to see as many houses as possible to get some good data points to figure out what are our must haves and what is on the wish list. I LOVE looking at houses but it amazes me how many people have atrocious taste, and I mean atrocious! Now to each their own with personal preferences but you need to update a lot of things in your home if it was built in the early 1990’s and it still has it original decor. We saw lots of country inspired decoration (blech!), gold fixtures and very outdated kitchens. Sigh, I have feeling this may be a long process to find our perfect house, in a neighborhood with houses that do not all look the same and is in the right school district.

Here is our must have and nice to have list:
