Friday evening we are going to a wine event titled: It’s Not A Sin To Love Zin (red, that is) and we were tasked with finding 2 good Zin’s and food to pair with them. For our 2 bottles of Zin we are bringing a DeLoach 2007 Zinfandel from Santa Rosa, California. The DeLoach Merlot is very tasty so we figured we should give their Zin a try.
Our 2nd bottle of Zin is a 2007 Plungerhead Old Vine Zinfandel out of Lodi, California. This was one where the lable and cute name sold us. Even the top sort of lucks like a plunger! It is named after Eddie Plongerheid, a loyal employee of the Winery.

For food pairings we bought a strong stilton to stand up to the flavors of the Zin and I made a Double Chocolate Cherry Bark.
Ingredients
- 8oz Semi Sweet Chocolate
- 8oz Bitter Sweet Chocolate (I used Ghirardelli for both)
- 1/2 cup of Dried Cranberries
- 1 cup of Almonds
- 1 cup of Dried Cherries
Directions
- Melt chocolate in a bowl over a pot of simmering water, it should take about 10 minutes.
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and pour melted chocolate onto the paper and spread evenly
- Top with cranberries, almonds and cherries.
- Let set for at least 2 hours before breaking up into small pieces and storing
I can’t wait to see what everyone else brings, this wine group is so incredibly creative and we always

That bark looks amazing, girl. I’d love to try something like that.

The DeLoach is fabulous!! We went the winery in Sept and they have amazing wine. You will really enjoy it. Have fun at the event tonight, it sounds so awesome. Looking forward to hearing the different wines people bring, etc. Have a good weekend!
