A Dinner Together

April 26, 2010

Monday is over. Thank goodness. It seemed to take forever and it was one of those days that my to-do list was about 3 pages long. I got about a quarter of it done so I have all the fun and joy to look forward to tomorrow ;)

Since it was Mike’s first day at his new job I wanted to surprise him with his favorite dinner: pizza and wine. I called our favorite pizza place and convinced them to deliver to our new house (for a $5 dollar delivery fee) and we were on our way to a large traditional pizza was extra cheese, mushrooms, green olives, pepperoni and sausage and we had it made well done. Pizza perfection! Davani’s how I love thee.

We are catching up on our days (not by phone or text!!!) and are enjoying a glass of wine and our evening.

Lunch with the Girls

April 26, 2010

Saturday afternoon  I met up with 2 of my favorite blog friends (Erika and Kate) for a little lunch and catch up. Erika picked Q Cucumbers because of it’s enormous salad bar and tons of vegetarian friendly options. It had been at least 5 years since I had been to Q Cucumbers and I took full advantage of the salad bar and made a HUGE salad, grabbed a plate of some hot food (I only ate about half of this) and a big bowl of Wild Rice Soup.

It was great to catch up and here all about the end of semesters, housing searches, potentially moving in with someone special and the job search process.

I am already looking forward to the next one!

Looking Back

April 26, 2010

I wrote a post on December 31st, 2009 with a list of things I wanted to accomplish in 2010 and this morning another one gets to be crossed off!

Here is that list from December 31st:

Some of the things that we are planning on happening in 2010-

1) I will start a new job

2) We will sell Mike’s place

3) We will buy our first house together

4) There will be travel to somewhere fun, hopefully 2 trips

5) Mike will have more time at home (Read new job, I didn’t want to put that out there so the world could see it before he was ready to give his noticed)

6) We will see the first major league outdoor baseball game in MN in 30 years

7) There will be more wine blending in Chicago

8) Bon Jovi will be glad to see us in Chicago in July ;) Not like he will even know we are there

9) I will continue my yoga, cardio and weight lifting routine

10.) Our kitchen will get lots of use with new dishes, more good wine drinking and even a homemade pasta experiment.

I love getting to cross things off the list, and today I was even happier about crossing off Mike gets to spend more time at home. Today is the first day of his new job and I truly hope it is a good move for him. He took and HUGE leap of faith by leaving the ONLY JOB he has ever had. Yes, he is one of those who stayed 13 years at his first job out of college.

He occasionally reads the blog and hopefully he does today because I want him to know how incredibly proud of him I am and how much I am looking forward to seeing him during the week on a regular basis. We can get into a pattern and make our sense of normal.

All You Can Eat Sushi

April 26, 2010

Neither of us was in the mood to cook last night so we voted for All You Can Eat Sushi at Kami. For $21.95 Sun-Thursday you can get all you can eat steak, sushi, and a few other dishes.  It is a good deal! Especially because I love sashimi and nigiri, and those tend to be the more expensive pieces of sushi. We started with a few small pork gyoza with dipping sauce and edamame:

I ordered a Crunch California roll, a kinds of Tuna sashimi and 2 pieces of Salmon nigiri. (Imagine fish x 2, since we ordered more pieces)

An order for teriyaki steak and mushrooms was next, this was really good!

I had been craving sushi for a few months and this definitely hit the spot!
