Mike was extra nice and ordered two cookbooks that I had claimed: “Must be in our collection.” While they are not a must, they are probably on the definitely should have list. The Joy of Cooking is one of this essential cookbooks that most people have. The question is do they actually use it? I surely hope to use mine.
The other cookbook that Mike bought was La Cucina The Regional Cooking of Italy. This cookbook was 50 years in the making and has 2,000 recipes. There are a few bucatini recipes that look amazing! I would guess that we have about 40 cookbooks but we only use about 10 of those that I have on our bookshelves in the living room.
Since I wanted to read the cookbooks, I love reading the history and paging though page after page of recipes we needed a quick dinner. Especially after Clifford and I went on a 45 minute walk through the trails and woods and after he been outside almost all day playing with kids. He is one exhausted dog!
We grilled a Peppercorn Pork Tenderloin and paired it with Trader Joe’s Thai Style Carrots and a nice Spanish Rioja. Rioja is made from tempranillo grapes from the Rioja region of Spain and they can range in price from $8 upwards of $50.
How many cookbooks do you have? How many do you use?
After a crazy busy weekend we decided that sitting on a patio and enjoying the sun would be a great way to wind down and relax before Monday morning. We went to dinner around 5 and wanted to take advantage of the warm evening and still get home with plenty of time to get ready for the week and head to bed early. Bonfire is known for their grilled pizza’s and meat and is only about a 10 minute drive.
We picked a prime spot in the sun and I opted for a Blood Orange Margarita that I only drank about half. I ordered the beer can chicken that comes with mashed potatoes and green beans while Mike ordered a wood fired pizza with 3 types of sausage. They have the best chicken, I normally avoid chicken when going out to eat since it can be so dry but everytime I have been to Bonfire I opt for their delicious chicken.
We had great service, the food was good and the best part was sitting in the nice warm sun! I sat down and relaxed for the first time all weekend around 6:30 and before I knew it was napping I was out for the night around 9 and it was much needed after two nights of less than 6 hours of sleep. I can definitely feel the wrath of a jam packed weekend this morning, it was hard to get up and get energized. The cinnamon life will help get me started and a nice fruit salad is awaiting me in the fridge when I get enough energy to go get it before our morning meeting.
