Lounging and Reading

May 31, 2010

Today has been the perfect end to a long weekend, I slept until about 7:30 and relaxed a bit before heading to a yoga class. It had been much too long between yoga sessions and I really needed the good stretch, I need to make an effort to get there every week. I leave feeling refreshed and with a clear mind.

We did a few projects around the house, spent some of the day relaxing and lots of the day reading. I finished a few books over the weekend, The Help, Outlander and am now starting the next one on my list of the June Book Club. Since neither of us were in the mood for cooking we opted to go the easy way out and pick up pizza. We ordered our favorite- half mushroom and pepperoni with the other half being sausage and green olives. Davani’s never fails to produce a great pizza.

I am enjoying the beautiful evening with the air conditioning off and a great cross breeze coming through the house. I am almost 100 pages into my new book and am looking forward to a really good night of sleep. I wish every weekend was three days and ended up being this great. Sigh, back to work tomorrow but at least it is a short week.

Hopefully you had a great Memorial Day weekend!

An olive oil and balsamic vinegar store opened recently and we figured we had to go check it out. We go through a lot of olive oil and balsamic vinegar is the base for my favorite salad dressing. The Olive Grove focuses on unique and flavored oils that you can try in the store and bottle for home use.

Some of  their flavored Olive Oils are:

Garlic

Lemon

Persian Lime

Harissa

Tuscan Herb

Blood Orange

Basil

Chipotle

Besides flavored oils they have traditional olive oils from France, Italy, Greece and Spain. The balsamic options they carry are the star of the show with traditional 18 and 12 year along with fruity flavors like:

Pomegranate

Strawberry

Wild Blueberry

Red Apple

White

Black Cherry

Raspberry

Black Currant

Each oil/vinegar sits in a large stainless steel vat with a pouring spout and tiny cups to sip or dip bread in to enjoy the flavor. We tried quite a few and decided our favorites were the Tuscan Herb and Blood Orange olive oil along with the Wild Blueberry Balsamic that was so incredibly sweet.

The prices are really reasonable for the quality of the oil/vinegar and I love the custom bottles and pourers. We bought 3 bottles worth and I know we will be visiting again soon!
