3 Weeks Later…

June 7, 2010

It was an insanely busy day at work and barely even had time to eat, lunch was at my desk while working so I knew I needed something bigger for dinner. Yoga was on the agenda and I knew it would help clear my head. A 60 minute C2 class that was full of chatarunga’s and lots of meditation today. I had never taken a class with this instructor and she was much more “meditative” than I normally am. She was very talkative and had us chanting at the end, it was something different and she leads a pretty hard class. I left drenched!

When I got home I was surprised to see that our landscaping is done! Woohoo. I am so excited about this, now we just need some grass. After some of the frustration of dealing with the landscaping being 3 weeks late I am really glad how it turned out in the end. Lots of various shrubs, rocks, mulch, river rock and flowers. It should be really full once it all grows in.

Mike was nice enough to throw some turkey burgers on the grill and cook up a bit of corn. It was easy and quick for dinner at almost 8pm. A nice big bowl of watermelon on the side. All the flavors of summer :)

Pairings

June 7, 2010

Over the weekend we visited Pairings Food and Wine Market and I never got the chance to do a full review. The concept of Pairings is an on site wine store that you pick up a bottle to enjoy in the cafeteria style restaurant.

We wandered the store for a perfect bottle and settled on a 2007 Girard Petite Sirah from California for around $28. The nice thing about buying the wine in the shop is you can pick a good bottle and not have to pay typical restaurant markup. I really enjoyed this wine, it was very berry forward and so smooth. But at $28 a bottle it should be!

To go with our wine we opted for a cheese plate that had some strawberries, almonds, crackers, French bread, a creamy brie, cheddar and a gouda with stinging nettle. I would have never guessed the flavor of the gouda but it was really good, the typical salt crystals were present and it was very nice.

Both of us had about a glass and the nice thing is you are able to cork the wine and bring it home. I hate to waste wine but we don’t always need a full bottle. We would definitely visit Pairings again, too bad it is on the complete opposite side of town where we live but… Scott and Jill just bought a house not to far so I see some visits in our future!
