The room we were in had curtains that you could use to really darken the room so we slept until almost 11am, which may be a record for us! We got up and headed to a BBQ, the first course was an excellent pasta salad made with tuna, capers, cornicons, pasta, tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. After the pasta salad we waited for all of the grilled items, we had chicken, fresh sausages, steak and potatoes. All the food had that great fire bbq taste.
After lunch we headed to leave the Villa and check out some of the Tuscan towns. We drove through lots of spots to taste wine and just enjoyed the scenery. We drove to Ratta, and also headed Parmana to stop at a store and pickup some fruit, snacks and water. All of the towns were really charming! Most of the towns in Tuscany still partake in the Siesta, so shops close from around 1-4, which is annoying if you are trying to sight see. We made the best of it and just enjoyed the architecture and beautiful setting. We headed back to the Villa, for a short nap and some pool time.
We were eating as a group at 7:30 that evening and had wine tasting to go along with the dinner. The first course was a red pepper and mozzarella dish that had a great light texture and a full red pepper taste. It was really good! The 2nd course was a wholewheat pasta with a chili sauce while the 3rd course was a cod in a Tuscan tomato and olive sauce. The cod was very firm and the sauce was a nice balance to it. The wines we tasted were a Primitivio, Shiraz and one of their Reserves, all were excellent. For dessert we had more Vin Santo and a panna cotta with homemade caramel. It was good, but so rich I couldn’t finish all of it. After a day of sun and running around we were quite tired so we headed to bed around 11 and avoided another night of heavy wine consumption ![]()
