Duchamp on N. Damen

August 1, 2010

I love having the time on Sunday morning to head to brunch. Normally we are heading to the gym but since we had the whole day to continue and enjoy Chicago with our friends Chris and Ivy we headed to brunch. We picked a place that we could walk to in about 30 minutes and see some more of the Bucktown and Wicker Park areas. Mike and Chris found a place that none of us had been before and that had availability for four. Duchamp is on North Damen and has a nice open dining area and a pretty decent sized patio out back. We sat inside since we had been outside walking in the morning and were going to do more walking in the afternoon.

After a quick browse of the menu I decided on the Italian Skillet which had 2 eggs over easy, braised pork, grilled polenta with puttanesca sauce. I am not normally one to mix my food but this was pretty tasty with the sauce and eggs.

Mike had grilled chorizo and egg quesadillas with red pepper, onions & salsa. While he really enjoyed his it actually wasn’t that much food and he shared a bit of mine :) Ivy ordered the same thing that I did while Chris got the burger and fries which looked pretty tasty. While we all enjoyed our food, and would probably recommend it to someone looking for something in that area I don’t think we would go out of way to go again.

We spend the next few hours walking around, enjoyed a gorgeous sunny day and stopped at Miko’s Italian Ice. I had a mix of passion fruit and banana. Perfect treat for a summer afternoon.
