Back To Chicago

August 28, 2010

We are back in Chicago this weekend for a wedding so we decided to come down Friday afternoon and get checked into our hotel and head over to see our friends Bart and Julie and their new addition Owen.

The wedding had a block of rooms at The Blackstone which is a recently renovated hotel that kept a lot of the original charm and historic features. The rooms are decent sized and nicely decorated. The bathroom is pretty large with a great shower and Aveda toiletries.

After getting checked in we grabbed a cab and headed out to Bart and Julie’s place in Bucktown, they have a great two level condo and enjoy food and wine just as much as we do. But the real reason we needed to catch up with them was to see the new addition, Owen, who was born at the end of June. Owen is a very content baby who just wants to know what is going on. He cooed and made great little baby noises while we enjoyed a White Burgundy Wine with some crackers and cheese.

Julie had found four pre-made burgers at Whole Foods and figured that would be easy for a busy new mom to handle. She could hang out with Owen and us while Bart grilled them up quick. We had sides of a roasted potato salad and a strawberry spinach salad with honey mustard dressing.

The wine with dinner was a Silver Oak from California that was really enjoyable. While we all caught up on trips, movies and babies being born Mike and I took turns holding Owen.
