Bonfyre

October 9, 2010

We left the Twin Cities and headed on our way to Madison yesterday afternoon and  were meeting up with our friends Jeff and Nicole for dinner. Bonfyre just opened near the house and we figured it would make for a nice dinner.

The specialty at Bonfyre is fire roasted meats and pizza’s. It had a nice open bar area and we were able to grab a high-top table and figure out what we all wanted for dinner. You know you are in Wisconsin when the drink list is just as big as the menu! The martini special was a strawberry infused martini with fresh strawberry puree and it was pretty darn tasty and only $5!

We started with a cheese plate with some apple slices, olives and bread. As far as cheese plates go I would rate this about a C, not enough variety and the cheeses were not that unique. :(

But the appetizer I was least expecting to like was poutine, a Canadian classic of fries with gravy, meat and cheese. Not healthy but really good.

Everyone ordered something different for dinner, I had the Pot Roast with veggies and mashed potatoes.

Mike had the jambalaya that has nice spice but was a huge portion.

Jeff ordered the pork tenderloin that had a black bean salsa and Nicole had the seared ahi tuna.

If you are in the Madison area and are looking for something a little nicer check out Bonfrye. We had great service and it was a nice place to catch up on a Friday night. If we were to go again we might just get drinks and appetizers instead of full meals but I would recommend the meals.
