Tamari Shrimp with Cabbage

October 24, 2010

After indulgance last night of candy, pizza and beer I figured a lighter dinner was in order. I had a craving for shrimp and figured a quick dinner of shrimp, cabbage, with hints of Asian flavor would be perfect.

Ingredients

1/2 pound shrimp, chopped, peeled and deveined

1/2 head Napa cabbage, chopped

2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

2 inches of fresh ginger, finely chopped

4 scallions chopped

1 small lime, juiced

1/4 cup tamari (aged soy sauce)

2 tbsp sesame seeds

1/4 cup cilantro, chopped

Directions

  • Add shrimp to a pre-heated pan and cook 2-3 minutes. Add cabbage, garlic, ginger and scallions and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until cabbage is reduced down.
  • Add in lime juice, tamari, sesame seeds and cilantro. Stir to combine. Serve as is or over brown rice.

The key to this dish is not over cooking the shrimp. I love shrimp but they have to be prepared well.

While it was a sad ending for us Vikings fans, it did keep it exciting throughout. I think I just have to accept that the Vikings and the Cardinals are not going to the play offs this year.
