Last night I got to hang out with my friend Bridget, her husband Ben and Ben’s brother Adam for dinner and drinks. It had snowed a few inches again (seriously, what is up with all this snow this winter) and it took Bridget and I an hour to get from work to Mozza Mia and it is only about 8 miles. Grrrr! Thankfully we made it on time for our reservation and were seated right away.
Mozza Mia has been open a few months and I wanted to find a time to try their pizza and I had hear the had “real” gelato. The pizza was fantastic, lots of unique options to try. They are also known for their mozzarella bar in which that make a few options fresh daily, we had the mozzarella with prosciutto and a chick pea salad on the side as an appetizer. I need to find a way to replicate this! It would have been even better with a little balsamic drizzled on top.
Both Adam and I got the fig and prosciutto pizza which had gorgonzola, it has a nice bite from the cheese and the figs were amazing. I wish I could find fresh figs year round in Minnesota.
Ben had a really spicy pizza with sausage, chard and peppers. It was spicy but good, I had a small bite which was enough to give me an idea of the flavors.
Bridget had a classic Margherita and really enjoyed the fresh mozzarella and basil on it.
After talking with the waiter about gelato he was nice enough to bring me a sample of the vanilla bean gelato. It was good, but not real gelato. I could tell there was cream in it but they did use a real vanilla bean in making it. Bridget and I also got some limoncello for dessert, a nice small pour in a super cute bottle.
We had a great time at Mozza Mia and headed to the Edina Grill after since Ben and Bridget had a babysitter and wanted to go out for a bit. I had a lychee martini made with lemon and simple syrup and Bridget had a peach cosmo while the guys opted for beer (no surprise there)
We cheered to good friendship and a much needed night out and just enjoyed the people watching and catching up.
Todays 30 in 30 for 30:
Meeting new people, it was fun to go out to dinner with good friends and get to know Ben a little bit better and meet Adam. Socializing really does make me feel so much happier! I thrive on going out and interacting with othe
rs and need to make sure I keep doing that.
