Wine Week: Buffalo Rock Winery

May 24, 2011

Post #2 of Wine Week and next on the list of winery tours on Saturday was the Buffalo Rock Winery. A woman owned winery that is just getting started, her tasting room opened last fall and a few of the other local wineries are helping her out by sending you to Buffalo Rock after visiting. Goose Lake sent us there and we got a free tasting for it (What’s not to love about a free tasting!)

Jess, Ben, the S.O. and I were the only ones at the tasting room so it was great to hear her story. She described all of the wines and we got to taste 8 of them. When tasting as a group I really enjoy hearing about who likes what and why, I may really enjoy something and Jess could call it poison Winking smile

Best part of our visit to Buffalo Rock? The sun came out why were were there and we had a few minutes to sit outside and enjoy it. I am really excited to follow the progress of the Buffalo Rock Winery, I think she understands the concept of balancing quality while keeping the wines within a certain price point.

She had some of my favorite wines, a nice mix of whites with the right amount of acidity and some fun fruit wines. Having wines with playful names helps too, Under the “Sota Sun, Hot Ma Ma and Sweet Addilyn.
