Wine Week: Woodland Hill Winery

May 26, 2011

Wine week continues with a trip out to lovely Delano, Minnesota. About 30 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. We had high hopes for Woodland Hill, it had the most scenic property, a lovely tasting room and shop and they were even setting up for a wedding that afternoon. The sun had just come out and it was looking like it might be a beautiful afternoon.

Woodland Hill’s lets you taste 7 wines for $5, but there was only 7 wines to choose from. If you wanted choice in what you got to taste this was not the place for that. Of the three wineries we visited on Saturday this was my least favorite.

I didn’t like any of the wines, the pours were very small (not even close to the allowable ounce a winery can serve as a sample) the tasting room staff barely even talked about it the wines and basically treated us like were a hassle. Nothing annoys me more than treating customers like they are not important, people like us are how they stay in business!

What I did like was the beautiful grounds, the cute puppy and the chance to have a relaxing afternoon to enjoy a few samples of wine.

It is beautiful! Interesting that they had so few wines to taste. That’s no fun for a wine tasting tour!
