Some wine drinkers scoff at the idea of a fruit wine but they can be surprisingly good, especially on a hot summer day sitting out on a deck. But what wine wouldn’t be good sitting out on a deck? Fruit Wine is a fermented beverage made from fruit, flowers, herbs and even vegetables. It is very popular among home winemakers and in wineries in the Northern part of the U.S. since grapes can be difficult to grow in a cold climate.

Is it something you would bring to impress someone? Probably not. Fruit wine is great for when you just want a glass of wine, sit down and relax with a glass of something you like. It doesn’t always need to be fancy or unique. Just open a bottle of something fun and enjoy the evening (or afternoon if that is how you roll 
)
The saying when it rains it pours has been especially true for me this month. Maybe make that the last six months. Tuesday was especially trying, I was home from work with one of the worst migraines I have ever had. So bad that I could barely stand up. After taking three doses of my migraine medication I gave in and went to urgent care for a shot.
That shot helped somewhat but basically made me a big pile of goober all afternoon. The couch, a pillow, and a big ice pack were my friends all day.
What would make this day worse? Clifford and the roommates dog got into a little scuffle and Clifford was very seriously injured. He ended up having surgery to repair his eye and there is pretty good chance that he will lose his vision and may even lose that eye. I was a mess. A big crying, migraine drugged up, emotional mess. A call to the roommate and the s.o. and I had someone here to help me, take Clifford to the vet since I couldn’t drive and make me keep drinking fluids and eating.
My eyes are puffy but at least I had some good pizza, Raspberry Melon Gatorade and Newton Thins that I got as part of the Foodbuzz Featured Publisher Program. Sometimes the little things really do help. Pizza and cookies are those little things tonight. They are good cookies too I might add.
Please keep Clifford in your thoughts and prayers, I know that he is just a dog but he is my baby and I would have been devastated if he would have been even more injured. I am thinking positive thoughts that he will retain his vision and eye through all this.
