Combine some travel, food, wine and a tiny bit of fitness and you have the perfect weekend. We headed up to Duluth for the significant others birthday and a much needed time away to de-stress! Duluth is right on Lake Superior in Northern Minnesota and remind me a lot of my home town. Very family friendly, amazing views, unique weather and lots of outdoor activities to participate in. Strangely I have never been to Duluth and I have been living in Minnesota for almost 12 years. How have I never been there?
I picked a quaint and historic bed and breakfast, The Matthew S. Burrows house. Originally a house for a single man involved in the shipping industry built in 1890 it was turned into a bed & breakfast about 30 years ago. The house was beautifully maintained and had lots of charm. It was the perfect place to unplug for a weekend. No tv, no internet (they had it available, I just didn’t use it) and it was some of the best sleep I have had in years.
We enjoyed some of the best foodie restaurants Duluth has to offer (these all get their own post!), brewery visit, a historic mansion tour, a stroll around Canal Park, an amazing dinner, a few good naps, hours spend soaking up the sun down by the water, a alpine coaster and just having an uninterrupted weekend. Everything about the trip was perfect.
The words I could live in Duluth might of come out of my mouth. Shocking! I don’t see myself moving up there anytime soon but it was such an amazing weekend. I foresee many more visits to Duluth in my future.
