Back to normal Twin Cities dining and the desire to try a new wine bar with my friend Jess. A few hours to enjoy some wine, appetizers and girl talk. Sign me up for that. Ursula’s Wine Bar is in downtown White Bear Lake and has been around for 10 years. They chance their menu decently often and have an interesting wine list.
Jess is a white wine drinker and I am not really a white wine lover so we compromised on something a little less sweet and something that would be new for Jess to try. The waitress was nice enough to let us taste a few so we could find something we would both like. We settled on a 2010 Gruner Veltliner from Austria.
It was very light, a nice touch of acidity and good for a summer night
A few appetizers for dinner of steak tacos, hummus and pita bread, warm olives and a goat cheese dip. The hummus, olives, and goat cheese dip were good but the tacos were disgusting. No flavor and kind of chewy. So disappointing.
The atmosphere at Ursula’s was fun, the wine list was interesting and we had pretty good service but I would like to try some of the entrees to see if they were better tasting.
