Murray’s

July 11, 2011

There aren’t many restaurants that make it 50+ years, Murray’s just happens to be one of those places. One of the premier steakhouses in the Twin Cities and home of the famous silver butter knife steak. In my almost 12 years of living here I had only been once and had dinner in the bar, it was time to change that.

With an online deal for $75 that was about to expire there was no way I was going to let that expire. The roommate, boyfriend and I headed downtown for a nice dinner. A start of beer cheese soup, very rich and made with Guinness, a perfect bread basket that I made a pretty serious dent in. That garlic toast is seriously unbelievable!

A bottle of Cline Zinfandel to share (well the roommate had a few sips and we had the rest)

Caesar salads to start, we could have split one. I only ate about 1/4 and The Gourmand ate less than half of his. The dressing was made fresh and more of the garlic toasts as croutons.

We split a peppercorn crusted sirloin, perfectly cooked at medium and the crust was amazing.

A side of asparagus that we barely touched, it was good I swear!

Our to go box could have been enough for another meal for two. The people watching was incredible, our service was spot on, the steak was perfectly cooked and it was one of those memorable meals. I don’t normally choose a steak house but it was a really great meal.
