Last night I was having one of those nights where I was undecided and indecisive about what I wanted to drink, I didn’t know if I wanted a white, a red or a rose so I opted for a flight. A wine flight gives you a chance to try three different smaller pours of wine, it usually equals out to about 1 and 3/4 glasses. Typically similar styles of wine are paired together so you can compare and contrast the differences.
The wine flight last night was $10 dollars and featured 3 very nice wines:
Wine #1
2007 Paca Lola Albarino from Rias Baixas, Spain
A very light and crisp white
Wine #2
2009 Ponzi Pinot Gris from Dundee, Oregon
The initial aroma was a bit off but it ended up tasting much better than I thought. It was slightly acidic with notes of tropical fruits
Wine #3
2009 Bonterra Rose from Mendocino, California
A beautiful colored rose that had a wonderful aroma and hints of light berry
I love having a flight and think it is a great way to try some unique wines and learn about a typical style of wine or wines from a certain region.
