Where do you go eat when your friend’s from Arizona are in town and request local/organicish. Mill Valley Kitchen, a fresh, local, and sustainable restaurant that is inspired by Northern California cuisine. They have been open a little over a month and I was really excited to try it out. Good thing I have foodie friends
The Gourmand and I arrived early and grabbed a drink at the bar, enter in what might be the best drink I have ever had. Seriously! Hello kombucha margarita where have you been all my life. Sweet, tart, a bit fizzy and with fresh berry flavor. I love you. And I don’t say that lightly.

The group arrived and we headed to our table and immediately got talking food. 6 people who love food, there was barely a pause in the conversation all night. It is just too bad that Mo and Scott live in Scottsdale. Or it might become a dangerous thing have others who want to try new restaurants just as much as we do. We all split salads, and at $6-$8 for a salad it was a good deal to get 2 servings out of it. Grilled Plum salad with spinach, walnuts, goat cheese, red onion and raspberry vinaigrette. Loved the fresh goat cheese and anytime grilled fruit is added to the mix I am a happy girl.

Entree’s were the GRASS-FED FILET with olive oil smashed yukon, wild mushroom and chipollini. Look at the size of that filet, it was perfectly cooked (medium rare and let me just add that I am excited that I have finally convinced The Gourmand to try his meat medium rare instead of medium well) and had a great crust. I snuck one little bite of the potatoes and they were so flavorful. I had a bit of order envy going on.

My choice was the DUROC PORK TENDERLOIN with coconut sweet potato with apple jam. This dish screamed fall which I am not quite ready for but was amazingly delicious. The sweet potato was so smooth and creamy and the pork tenderloin was seared and seasoned just right.

The table split the chocolate tasting and that was enough for 6 of us, we all had just a small piece of chocolate, the candied ginger and the dried fruit. The chocolate was made in house and basically melted in your mouth. Even the white chocolate was surprisingly good, normally I am a dark chocolate and dark chocolate only kind of girl.

Wine choice for the evening? A Seaglass Pinot Noir. It paired well with the duck and the filet, was light enough for a warm summer night, and at $24 was pretty reasonable.
Thanks for a very fun and food filled evening
I know without a doubt that we will be back! Our service was good, the atmosphere is very lovely and the food was fantastic. I am excited to see what new dishes they introduce throughout the Seasons.
