Wine Wednesday: $10 Dollars and Under

September 7, 2011

Number one rule in wine drinking, drink what you like! Some wine drinkers turn their noses at the thought of cheap wine but there are some excellent wines under $10 dollars. These are great for everyday drinking, for cooking, even for bringing to a party.

A tip for wine that is under $10 dollars, look for blends and try some South American, South African and Australian Wines. A lot of these regions are producing great wines at a great value.

My 5 Favorite Wines Under $10 Dollars:

Apothic Red

Usually around $8.99. A great red blend that pairs well with grilled foods and meats or is perfect for just having a glass. Like I did last night! This is one of my all time favorite wines.

Apothic Red

Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon

I have seen this on sale for as low as $7.99 or a normal price of $9.50, a nice cherry flavor and it pairs well with cheese.

Secreto Malbec

A great Malbec from Chile that I have paid around $8 dollars and has notes of black currant, cherry and nice tannins. I am a huge Wines of Chile fan and I love the price points of most of them.

Famiglia Meschini Torrontes

Light, crisp, sparkling and fun. One of my favorite wines, I love the wines they produce and this one is so unique. An easy to drink wine that almost everyone will like! I found this one on sale for $10 dollars. Right at the top of the budget but so worth it!

Yalumba Viognier

A white that I like, it has a balance between acidity and oakiness. Hints of grapefruit, stone fruits and often found for around $8 dollars

I recognize that Apothic Red – didn’t we have that on your birthday? I have a few in the wine fridge now…so good! I like your other picks as well.

I might have to try that Malbec too.

I’ve been severely slacking on my wine Wednesday posts! I actually have a bottle of that Bogle wine that someone gave me but I haven’t tried it yet. Love this round-up!
