Wine Wednesday: Swirl Wine Bar

A beautiful Saturday afternoon in the fall where we have unseasonable warm temperatures and the leaves are amazing shades of reds and yellows is best spent with friends. Jess sent me an email about an amazing deal for Swirl Wine Bar in Afton, for $25 dollars you get a tasting, a glass of wine, chocolate truffles, and a bottle of wine to take home. That is really hard to pass up! Add in chance to visit a cute, historic and quaint city about 30 minutes from my place that I had never been? Check.

Swirl has been open about a year and a half and features wines from around the world that you can buy by the bottle, the glass or even just a little taste. Sounds like the perfect place to me! They have interesting food too, food that is meant to go with wine. I’m in heaven.

Jess, her friends Kim and Angie and the boyfriend and I met at Noon on Saturday. It just so happened to be Angie’s bachelorette party that evening so we got her started with a little wine tasting fun.

A cheese plate with a three unique options including a sage derby and a manchego. It is hard to go wrong with cheese  

A flatbread with grapes, honey, brie and rosemary that we all inhaled. It was that good! Creamy, a bit sweet and savory.

If you live in the Twin Cities, you must go check out Swirl. We spent a few hours there laughing, learning about wine and just enjoying a laid back Saturday. A perfect day in my mind. Thanks ladies and the boyfriend for such a fantastic afternoon.
