Blue Door Pub

October 27, 2011

There’s an unwritten rule that most people who live on the Minneapolis side of the river never go to St. Paul and vice versa. It is even worse if you grew up in the Twin Cities, thankfully I don’t follow that rule and am an equal opportunity city visitor to find good places to eat. I was already heading to St. Paul for a blog event and had the opportunity to meet an out of town friend for some appetizer and a beer. He left the restaurant decision up to me…

So what did I pick? The Blue Door Pub. Place number three of my accidental burger journey. Blue Door Pub was new to me and was surprisingly packed at 4:30 mid-week. We waited for a few minutes for a table, perused the beer options, caught up on life, and finally decided to share something since I was heading to another event and and Josh is 100+ pounds into his weight loss journey. Split it is :) I only ever eat half anyway ;)

The choice? A mushroom and swiss juicy blucy and tater tots (anytime I hear tater tots, Napoleon Dynamite pops into my head). Now the juicy blucy/juicy lucy is a burger stuffed with molten cheese. There is a heated argument between a few Twin Cities places about who has the best one. My opinion? Go try all of them and decide for yourself ;)

Service was fast, the beer was cold, and the people watching was fantastic. It is pretty small inside and you really get a mix of business professionals, locals and college students.

I have to say that I think Blue Door Pub is my favorite! We’ve been there a few times and I love the burger with blue cheese! (the original I think!)

It?s hard to seek out knowledgeable individuals on this matter, however you sound like you recognize what you?re talking about! Thanks
