I went two weeks without stepping foot in a gym. Two weeks! I think that might be the longest in at least 10 years. I know how important it is to give your body a break and just relax. I did a surprisingly good job of it. But by week two of the trip I was itching for a workout, a yoga class and a big salad. Funny all the little things you miss. Now we did a ton of walking and I managed to eat pretty balanced and actually came back the exact same weight.
I had a few tricks up my sleeve to get me back into workout mode this week:
I saved a Living Social Deal for one my favorite yoga studios in Minneapolis, Moksha. I know how two months of unlimited hot yoga. So needed since we already have a few inches of snow on the ground. It has been a month since I’ve taken a yoga class. I so need this!
I scheduled 4 workouts a week into my calendar, anything more than that is bonus, but I will do 4 a week. With major jet leg on Monday morning I was up at 3:30 and at the gym right when it opened at 5am. An hour and a half but kicking workout felt so good. I really missed lifting weights.

Those 15 magazine that showed up while I was gone? I can only read them at the gym. I love to page through a magazine while doing cardio and this huge stack of magazine will motivate me.

Any tips for getting back into the workout routine after a break? How often do you take breaks?
