You know the time that you come home from work and just need a glass of wine. Last night was one of those nights. I wasn’t concerned about pairing or or the complexity of the wine I just wanted a glass. And I wanted something a little higher end. I searched my wine rack and come across Sonoma Coast Vineyards Freestone Hills Pinot Noir 2008. A wine that I was sent to review that arrived in early November that I didn’t have a chance to try before we left on the trip.
The mixture of dark black cherry and ripe rich black raspberry fruits plus pomegranate are really nice flavor profiles in a pinot noir. It’s fruity enough to bring together the different flavors of the meal while creating a fresh taste. This was a good wine to drink after a frustrating day. I put on pj’s, had my glass of wine, ate popcorn for dinner and caught up on my favorite trashy tv. The wine retails for $39.99, more than I might normally spend but so delicious and such a great way to make a crappy day better.
