Wine Wednesday: Bonny Doon Syrah Le Pousseur

January 4, 2012

I was first introduced to Bonny Doon wines at the 2nd Foodbuzz Festival and remember really enjoying both their white and reds. When I was wondering through Pairings and happened to come across a Syrah on sale I figured why not give it a try. On sale for around $13 a bottle I thought this represented a pretty good deal.

A 2006 Central Coast Syrah from Santa Cruz that was a very unique Syrah. Not heavy but not as light as a Pinot Noir. A beautiful ruby color and it made for a great glass of wine with our soup on Monday night. And I really do like the label, it could be art!

Nice price, and a great label! I totally love good wine labels. Syrah has been tasting great to me lately because I think it has a more intense flavor than merlots/cabs/pinots.

Since I typically buy wine based on the label…for sure I’ll be picking up this one, lol! Glad you enjoyed it!

LOVE Bonny Doon :) I actually went to a tasting there just before the holidays — they had a ton of spectacular wines! And $13 is a steal, most of their wines are $25+ at the tasting room!

It is one of those on the list to visit someday! I need a really long wine tasting trip.
