It has been a few years since I have been to Heidi’s and now that they are in a new location it was time to make a visit. We met our friends Shari and Joe for a delicious dinner.
Even with a 7:45 reservation the place was packed! It was a nice slow dinner where we had a chance to catch up, enjoy our wine, and best of all the people watching. A busy Saturday night in Minneapolis = best people watching in quite some time.
A 2007 Olivier Dumaine Syrah to enjoy with dinner. Deep red color with lots of spice. It paired very well with the pork tenderloin and cassoulet.
A starter of spicy butternut squash and potato soup, toasted pepitas,
brussels sprouts, drizzled with Banyuls vinegar & plum oil. A deep
Both Shari and I had the 21st Century Cassoulet Duck confit served with Peruvian lima beans in an intense mushroom broth. The duck was perfectly done and a perfect portion size.
Scott and Joe had the special of the evening, a pork tenderloin with a spicy pepper sauce. I had one tiny bite and it was delicious, Scott had this eaten in about 2.2 seconds. I actually thought he might lick the plate
We rarely order dessert but I couldn’t pass up the Nitro Chocolate Mouse with peanut butter, marshmallow and honey cookie. Unique flavors and texture and the perfect amount for us to share.
We left happy, satisfied and knowing we will back for another dinner. Maybe the 9 course tasting menu next time.
