Freezer Full of Chicken

June 26, 2012

Thanks to Golden Plump we now have a freezer full of chicken brats and sausages. I have a few recipes I am working on with the sausages but the brats and chicken breakfast sausages were enjoyed right away.

I was really impressed with the brats, traditional brats can be fatty but these were 30% lower in fat and really flavorful. Sometimes you worry that chicken can be bland and boring but these were good! Grilled and served with a plate full of veggies and few chips and salsa.

The breakfast sausages were a bit disappointing. I don’t eat sausage with my breakfast often but I want it to get crispy on the outside and have a ton of flavor. These got crispy but the flavor was a bit bland. I wouldn’t make them again plain but in a frittata they would work really well.

I’ve never seen chicken brats, but I would definitely try them! The meat market in Baraboo (my home town) has brats with blueberries in them! I haven’t tried them but my parents say they are delicious.
