Fitness Friday Protein Powders and Birthdays

February 8, 2013

Shameless plug- It’s my birthday today. I am really excited about 32. 30’s are so much better than the 20’s. Every year feels like it gets better! We’ve had our fair share of ups and downs this year but I am still incredibly lucky. Surrounded by amazing friends, family and have so much to look forward to this next year.

Onto my normal Fitness Friday discussion Smile I workout pretty hard and know that I need extra protein to help build that muscle. Because remember that I preach that muscle is sexy. I see too many women who only do cardio. Get in the weight room and build some muscle. It burns more fat, your clothes fit better and you gain a lot of self confidence when you feel strong.

After my morning workout I head home, get ready for workout and grab my shaker cup and fill it with protein powder and water or almond milk. It’s a nice add to my breakfast and helps those muscle fibers recover faster.

A few of my favorite protein powders:

Monster Milk. The chocolate flavor is seriously delicious. (I got this in a sample from Muscle and Fitness)

Dymatize Cookies and Cream. This is nice and thick and really does almost taste like a milkshake. I said almost, lets be real, there isn’t any protein powder that tastes like a real milkshake.

Click Protein. I don’t even like coffee but this protein powder is really good!

Workouts this week:

Sunday: Light cardio and Best Body Bootcamp

Monday: Off

Tuesday: Sculpt

Wednesday: Best Body Bootcamp

Thursday: Sculpt

Friday: Best Body Bootcamp

Saturday: Not sure yet, I think we have plans all day so I don’t know if I will be able to get a workout in.

Interesting! I have never even heard of any of these protein powders. I have stuck with SunWarrior for quite some time now, but don’t mind finding something new to switch it up. I’ll have to keep my eye out for some of these.

Hi Mellissa, do you have any idea if organic and grass-fed protein powders are worth the extra money? I can’t figure it out. Sigh. At the moment I just use a normal protein powder that I buy at GNC.

My person opinion is no, I do tend to by grass fed meat but I use whey protein powders and have been happy with it.
