About Me

What is A Fit and Spicy Life? The name I thought of 5+ years ago. Best name ever? No, but after 2000+ posts I am not going anywhere. Just like the tagline says, a lot of cooking (rarely making the same thing twice), a little wine and the workouts to balance it all out.

A city girl who married a country boy and compromised on the sort of suburbs with 2 dogs and a few acres. Those dogs are our family, Tanner is a 12 year old jack russell terrier who has his affectionate moments but is mostly crabby while Clifford a 5 year old chihuahua/jack russell mix who just wants to be on your lap. 30 something fitness enthusiast, lover of wine, spending time in the kitchen and know for having a serious case of wanderlust. A Wisconsinite turned Minnesotan, marketing manager by day food blogger by night and weekend.

Lots of recipes, featuring my favorite wines on Wednesdays and my thoughts about fitness. Known for having serious workout ADD and am constantly changing things up, everything from PiYo to Yoga Sculpt, Cardio, Weight Lifting, Spinning… the list goes on and on.

At Foodbuzz in November in SF, all of these people were telling me about the “Minnesota girl” – which must have been YOU! I’m originally from the Twin Cities and just spent 12 days at home visiting my family. Did you do your MBA at Carlson?? Congrats on what sounds like a very event-filled 2009. Would love to meet you the next time I’m in Minnesota (although it may not be for a few months). Until then, stay warm and keep doing lots of yoga!

  9. Mellissa, I didn’t realize you also lived in Minneapolis! It is always fun to find other foodies who live in your city! It sounds like we have a lot in common. I have also lived here for about 10 years and moved here for school. Love your site!

Hey Mellissa! We have much in common – I’m a thirty-something living in Southern CA with my husband and two dogs (and 14 chickens). We eat, we travel, we have 750 bottles of wine in the cellar… and we love the life we live. And… at the moment, I have a membership to three gyms. :-)

Hi – saw your tweet about yahoo mail – LOTS of people are unhappy with the new version. Thought I’d share some links, first our change.org petition:

Read our letter to Marissa Mayer: http://yahoomailvoices.com

And read a humorous take on the mess that is Yahoo Mail: http://janhyatt.kinja.com/now-i-get-it-yahoo-is-just-plain-smarter-than-i-am-1452912567

Spread the word! If you could share the petition link with your followers, that would be a great help – Jan Hyatt, Petition Organizer, Severna
